Guide to Venezia

Venezia

Prepare to be lost, and embrace it β€” nowhere else is quite this maze-like.

La Zucca

Sestiere Santa Croce, 1762

Fantastic vegetarian-oriented spot. Best lasagna of my life, probably our favorite place in Venice. Super small β€” make a reservation.

Atled Meat Lab

Fondamenta dei Tolentini, 220

Fantastic pork sandwich for a low-key quick bite.

Bar Venetico

Calle de Ca' DonΓ , 2527

Didn't have time to stop, but saw it walking by β€” saved for next time. Looks like a great place for a drink.

Gelato di Natura β€” San Giacomo dell'Orio

Fantastic gelato.

Stappo β€” Enoteca con cucina

Santa Croce, 2166

Another place we didn't have time to stop β€” but looks great for wine & pasta.

Ristorante Rosa Rossa

Calle de la Mandola, 3709

Great pizza β€” apparently Johnny Depp's favorite pizza place in Venice.

Al Nono Risorto

Sotoportego de Siora, Santa Croce, 2343

A great all-around Italian place β€” lovely courtyard. We had meat & cheese, pizza, and house wine. Lovely.

Pasticceria Rizzardini

Campiello dei Meloni, 1415

Amazing pastries.

St. Mark's

Beautiful inside and out.

Get lost, on purpose

Never been anywhere more maze-like than Venice. Just embrace it.

Venice Sightseeing Walking Tour with a Local Guide

Booked this last minute when our hotel room wasn't ready β€” turned out to be a really good tour.

The Gritti Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel

Insanely beautiful β€” a former palace right on the Grand Canal. A real splurge/upgrade. We used points last time for what has to be the best hotel room we've ever stayed in β€” the Somerset Maugham Royal Suite.

NH Collection Venezia Grand Hotel Palazzo dei Dogi

No longer a Marriott property β€” they had an amazing breakfast buffet, as I recall.

Coming later

A day-by-day Venezia itinerary is on the list β€” for now, everything above is our vetted recommendation list.
